Left 4 Dead 2 has received its first major update in a decade. Developed over the course of a year by a collaboration of Valve and the fan community, The Last Stand is a free update that reworks the titular survival scenario into a legitimate campaign, which is now an official part of the Left 4 Dead canon recognized by Valve. In addition, this update adds 20 new survival maps, improved animations, old unused voice clips, and even some new weapons.
I played an embarrassing amount of Left 4 Dead and its sequel back during my college days and into the mid 2000s. I got pretty sick of it for a while and decided it was time to focus on career, health and relationships, but I'll always be a fan at heart (my meticulous Bill Overbeck cosplay from Halloween 2012 is evidence to that). I still play with friends from time to time, so maybe it's time to dust off that auto shotgun, grab a bile jar and see what The Last Stand update has to offer.
