The feverish wishes of millions of J.K. Rowling fans have been answered as Warner Bros. Interactive has announced Hogwarts Legacy. This open world RPG is a prequel set nearly 200 years before Harry Potter in the 1800s. I'm pretty excited about this because the history of the wizarding world stretches back millennia and I was always disappointed that so much of the surrounding media focused on Harry, Voldemort and the war that took place in the late 90s. This game will allow players to explore Hogwarts and the surrounding areas like Hogsmeade and the Forbidden Forest.
There aren't a lot of details yet but I'm hoping players will be able to create their own student and choose courses of study to focus on, like potions or Quiddich. One thing is for sure my wife is going to be super happy with this announcement and it will make inducting our unborn daughter into the wizarding world a bit smoother. Hogwarts Legacy is coming sometime next year to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Burbank, Calif. – Sept. 16, 2020 - Warner Bros. Games today announced Hogwarts Legacy, an open-world, single-player, action role-playing videogame (RPG) set in the 1800s wizarding world. Players will experience life as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry like never before, as they live the unwritten and embark on a dangerous journey to uncover a hidden truth of the wizarding world. Developed by Avalanche and published by Warner Bros. Games under the Portkey Games label, Hogwarts Legacy will release in 2021 for PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, PlayStation®4 Pro, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One consoles, and PC.
Hogwarts Legacy is filled with immersive magic, putting players at the center of their adventure to become the witch or wizard they choose to be. They will grow their character’s abilities as they master powerful spells, hone combat skills and select companions to help them face off against deadly enemies. Players will also encounter missions and scenarios that will pose difficult choices and determine what they stand for.
