Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is right around the corner and Nintendo has released a new trailer ahead of its May 29th release date. The world of Xenoblade Chronicles is a bit fantastical and abstract, so this video is a primer on the setting, characters, conflicts and stakes. I've always found the setting particularly fascinating: two ancient titans, frozen it eternal battle, rigid for so long that life and civilizations evolved on them. But this duality inevitably means war, so the peaceful inhabitants of the Bionis titan must fight back against the invading cybernetic denizens of its dark twin, the Mechonis. The young hero Shulk has been chosen by the holy blade, the Menado, which grants him a glimpse into the immediate future.
Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition includes Future Connected, an epilogue chapter, which hopefully links this game up to its sprawling sequel. Nintendo is also releasing the Definitive Works edition, which bundles the game with a 250 page art book for the collector-minded. Check out the full trailer below.
