The PGA Tour has been relatively stingy with their licensing in recent years. After a long and fruitful run with Tiger Woods as the cover boy from 1998 until 2013, the franchise took a year off and released Rory McIlroy PGA Tour 2015. The game was decent, but lacked content right out of the gate. Since then, we haven't seen a PGA Tour-branded game. The good news is that the drought appears to be over.
In a simple teaser trailer released this week, PGA Tour 2K21 isn't just in the works: It appears to be launching this year. We'll get the full details next week on May 14 but a quick rundown of the trailer shows The Players Championship at Sawgrass front and center with the island green at 17th. We'll have to wait and see what courses make it into the game as we hope to see locations such as St. Andrews and Augusta National. If those courses can be locked down, that's a good sign that 2K is going all out to bring golf fans what they've been missing for awhile.
