Well this is a pleasant surprise. GOG has brought legendary late 90s fighting game Mortal Kombat 4 to modern PCs. Like most titles of the Windows 98 era, Mortal Kombat 4 was difficult to get running under modern OS without fan patches and other general headaches that would send you on a deep-dive into the PC Gaming Wiki. Now, hopefully, those hurdles are a thing of the past.
Mortal Kombat 4 was the series' first shaky foray into the world of 3D polygons, and as such is not as fondly remembered as the controversial, motion-captured trilogy that took the 16-bit consoles and arcades by storm, kicked off congressional hearings and led directly to the formation of the ESRB. That said MK4 still brought fresh idea to the table, including improvised stage weapons and of course fatalities rendered in glorious low-poly, bilinear-filtered carnage. If you were a fan back in the 90s or even a late-comer to the Mortal madness, it's worth the $5.99 on GOG to rediscover this classic.
