I feel like I pay fairly close attention to gaming news, particularly news about games that are in contention for my Game of the Year.
But somehow, word that Dauntless was coming to Switch today just slipped right by me. I knew, of course, that the fantastic behemoth-hunting free-to-play was eventually going to appear on Nintendo's handheld. But the email announcing the release absolutely blindsided me.
In celebration of the Switch release, Phoenix Labs released Stormchasers, the biggest free content pack to date for Dauntless. "Stormchasers includes the challenging new gameplay experience Escalation, a new type of sequential hunt that features dual Behemoth encounters in addition to a number of elements of the “roguelike” genre. Escalation culminates in a showdown against a fearsome threat - the shock-infused Behemoth Malkarion. Stormchasers also heralds the arrival of a new Hunt Pass, Myth & Legend, which offers Slayers the opportunity to explore the history and heroism of Ramsgate," says Phoenix Labs' PR Manager Andy Burt.
As it does with the previous systems it released on, Dauntless for Nintendo Switch supports cross-play. Your progress on any of the systems - PS4, Xbox One, the Epic Game Store, and Switch - will carry forward to all of the others.
Well then. I know what I'm doing the moment I get home today.
