Dragon Age: Inquisition, the most recent title in Bioware's storied Dragon Age franchise, is four years old. At once strongly praised and criticized, both for its massive scale and storytelling, but also for some of its hiccups, it's a game that still has the heart of many fans of action-RPGs.
But to get to that stage, the developers had to jump through many hoops. From deciding on whether to continue with the (eventually cancelled) DLC Exalted March for Dragon Age II, shuffling between engines, and going through a grueling process of crunch, it was a hard path, to say the least. And that doesn't even go without saying that its standing would be handily upended with the release of CD Projekt Red's The Witcher III just a few months after its release.
All this and more is presented in the latest documentary from GVMERS, a YouTube channel I've written about on here many times. It chronicles the beginning of the game's development to its legacy in the years of Anthem and Mass Effect: Andromeda, and how some on the development team, while still immensely proud of their work, wish that the game hadn't worked out so well as it did, given the resulting crash and burn of the latter two sci-fi titles.
Check it out for yourself.
