Call of Duty: Modern Warefare is set to reboot the series' blockbuster franchise in more ways than one. One way in which developer Infinity Ward is tackling this is a new addition to the multiplayer.
The new mode, called Gunfight, pitches a fast-paced, 2v2 firefight in a close quarters map. In an accompanying video released last last week, we get to see three maps: Pine, which is a pine forest filled in with some military equipment; King, which looks like an industrial area turned into a training arena; and Stack, which is like a bigger, outdoor version of King.
This is one of the first times that Infinity Ward has had to show off the game sporting its new engine. Visually, I can't say I detect much difference besides the fact that it looks appropriately improved over the previous game, if only in a marginal way. The lighting is what's most noticeable, especially with regards to shadows and just how perfect they look.
The mode looks to take what makes the franchise's multiplayer great and streamline it into a smaller venue. Check it out for yourself, and watch out for the wider multiplayer reveal on August 1st. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare releases October 25th.
