Welcome to the first installment of "What We're Playing", a new weekly feature that lists what games the folks at GamingNexus are playing right now.
Ben Berry - Staff Writer/Wii player
Right now I'm working my way through Shady O' Grady for the PC and enjoying Tiger Woods and Super Paper Mario on my Wii.
Randy Kalista - Staff Writer/News Composer
How many iterations and expansions of Command & Conquer have we seen now? Thirteen? Fourteen? Try fifteen. C&C3: Tiberium Wars has impeccable timing, however, already earning plenty of Editor's Choice awards, getting game reviewers weepy-eyed over the mid-90's Hollywood heydays, and bringing back one of gaming's most beloved bad boys: Kane. And whether you think C&C3's conventions (full-motion video, pre-building infrastructure, squared-off fog of war) are vying for the elusive Throwback Award, it's undeniable that the entire production absolutely hums with vitality.
Dan Keener- Staff Writer/Major Nelson's illegitimate child
I'm dabbling in a bunch of stuff right now. On the Xbox 360, I am playing 3D Ultra Mini Golf, Centipede and Pinball FX. A very strong Xbox Live Arcade presence. On the PSP I am painfully working my way through Call of Duty: Roads to Victory with some classic Hot Shots Golf mixed in for texture
Shawn Sines - Staff Writer/Part-time Hobbit
Lord of the Rings Online continues to eat up my time along with the PSP version of Puzzle Quest, Super Paper Mario, and Armored Core 4 for the PS3
Rachel Steinter - Staff Writer/Pokemon Collector
There are two games that I am currently working through right now. I'm playing Pokemon Diamond and Final Fantasy VI Advance. I've been a fan of the Pokemon franchise since day one and I alway await the next installment with anticipation. I actually played a demo of Diamond and Pearl at the Pokemon Trading Card Game World Championships in 2004.
Final Fantasy VI is a game very near and dear to my heart. I still love the characters after all of these years
Cyril Lachel - Senior Staff Writer/Burn Victim
This week I have been dealing with a painful accident that damaged my right hand with second degree burns. Not only has this made it virtually impossible to write reviews, but it has made it extremely difficult to play any games. For the first few days I didn't know what to do, it felt like my ability to pick up a control and have fun would have to wait for my hand to heal. But lately I have been putting a lot of time into Puzzle Quest for the Nintendo DS.
When I first got the preview build of the PSP version of Puzzle Quest back in February I proclaimed that it was the best game of 2007. Unfortunately the Nintendo DS version isn't nearly as good, but I am able to play it with one hand and that means that I don't need to stop gaming altogether as I put up with my injury. Regardless of the platform you pick it up for, Puzzle Quest is a great game that will keep you glued to your screen for hundreds of hours. I have a hunch that even when my hand heals I will still be playing this amazing game.
John Yan - Hardware Editor/Child amuser
I haven't had much time to play anything with my schedule this week but my son has been into Boom Boom Rocket and Astropop. When there are a few of my co-workers online, we do get together for some 4-player Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action. Finally, there's my occasional quick Wii Sports tennis and bowling play just for something different.
Charles Husemann - Editor in Chief/Maker of not so funny nicknames
I've been playing a lot of Halo 2 for Vista this week and I actually enjoyed it a bit. I'm not sure that there's much there for those who have already played the game on the Xbox but the achievements are nice and I'm digging the Live integration. I also played a bit of Chocobo Tales and Oblivion for the PS3 this week and expect to get more into those next week. I'm having a few friends over for a LAN party this weekend and it's a safe bet I'll be busting out Unreal Tournament 2004, Half-Life 2 Deathmatch and hopefully a little C&C 3 multiplayer.
