Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, which released on the Xbox One and PS4 consoles a couple of weeks ago, is now for the PC in the Steam store. We reviewed the PS4 version and found it to have an approachable learning curve and a forgiving flight model that welcomes new players Air Combat 7: Skies Unknown to the franchise as well as breaking new ground for veterans of previous versions. The graphics and fast-paced action, the very hallmarks of an Air Combat title, fit well in a world of console game controllers and arcade-ish action.
Is there a place for an arcade-ish military flight sim on a platform that offers ultra-realistic military flight sims like DCS World? We will find out soon, but there is a strong argument to be made for something faster, simpler, and easier to learn; a typical DCS mission can take close to an hour to fly, and that's only after a great deal of time spent learning how to operate complex aircraft and weapons systems.
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown for the PC is currently priced at $59.99.
