Just a quick reminder that ARK: Survival Evolved is out on Nintendo Switch today, so now you can get chased and eaten by prehistoric monsters wherever your feet can take you. The game's premise is simple: you start as a starving, naked caveperson washed up on a beach, and through ingenuity and grit you can eventually become one of those Dino Riders toys from back in the 80s.
I'm pretty skeptical of open world crafting survival games, especially when they promise dinosaurs. No Man's Sky promised space dinosaurs and instead delivered a butt-load of grind that suffocated what little gameplay existed in its procedural universe. But ARK is a different animal and it's gotten much stronger Steam reviews since it left early access, so maybe I'll give it a shot on Switch. ARK will run you $50 on Switch and will unlock on the eShop at midnight tonight.
