Its been about a month and a half since Telltale Games inexplicably shut down, leaving numerous games, projects and employees hanging in limbo. On of the games was the console version of 7 Days to Die, which is a horde survival crafting game that gets a lot of play among Gaming Nexus staffers on PC, but was also released on console. The Fun Pimps, who created the game for PC and licensed the game to be brought to console by Telltale Games have been in discussions since the company shut down to figure out how to revive the game on the console platforms.
Unfortunately, in an update provided by the 7 Days development team, those talks haven't gotten anywhere. The blog post doesn't really come out and say it, but it seems pretty clear that the last remnants of Telltale Management have been blocking The Fun Pimps attempts to get the source code after the license was cancelled. Why they are doing this, who knows, but it likely involves money I would imagine. So if you are a console 7 Days player, the short term future looks a bit bleak, but there are ongoing efforts to get the projects up and running again and get an updated game to PS4 and Xbox platforms.
Meanwhile, the Alpha 17 looks to be released sometime in the near future for PC, so lets keep our fingers crossed that the Telltale issue doesn't distract the team from getting A17 wrapped up and delivered.
