Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is an upcoming "real-time stealth" title from developers Bearded Ladies and publisher Funcom.
We've written quite a bit about this title, and it's always exciting to get a little more info on it.
It starts with a recap of The Zone, a "post-apocalyptic wasteland". The initial characters, Dux and Borman, also occupy the role of Stalker (HA). Their job is to venture into the zone to obtain supplies for their hub, The Ark.
The Ark is described as a collective place for mutants, where the player can upgrade their weapons and equipment. The story element to the Ark is the character of the Elder, a man who knows more than anyone about what the world was like before the apocalypse.
Another lead states that, while the game does not follow the pen-and-paper version of the original RPG, it does follow the original's "meta plot" of how the world came to be.
The team at Bearded Ladies is comprised of numerous veterans of the Hitman franchise, and one of the leads states how in their admiration for the genre, they're trying to iron out what they don't like about some of its aspects, preferring to experiment and push elements such as the in-and-out of it, as well as stealth.
The video rounds out with a showcase of mutations that the player can acquire in The Zone to further affect gameplay. Players access it through a skill tree, and unlock it through experience.
Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden comes out December 4th on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
