Excuse me while geek out for a moment. I am a huge fan of the Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel series. I know that there is a whole Legend of Heroes world that I’m not hip to, with previous series taking place in this world, but I got of board with Cold Steel. I’m perfectly happy to spend all of my Vita RPG time bumming around with Rean and his buddies as they attempt to get through a school year in a world teetering on the edge of war.

I’ve played the entire first (100+ hour) title, and most of the second title on my Vita, and I’m never in a hurry to get done. These are my vacation games, and I’m totally fine if they take me years to complete. I’m comfortable with this cast of characters, and the length and depth of these games just makes returning to them like going back to visit with old friends. I’m somewhat saddened that we will likely never see the third game release on Vita in the US, but that’s a whole other can of worms.

The good news is that both of the games that I love so much are releasing in the US with new physical editions for PS4. For JRPG fans that never got the chance to dig in to these games, this is a treat indeed. Here are the details on what each game will come with:

 

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel Decisive Edition includes:

  • Physical copy of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel on PS4™ system
  • 50 Mira replica Collector’s Coin
  • Musical Selections CD containing 21 full-length tracks
  • SteelBook® case featuring only artwork, with a separate outer package design   

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II Relentless Edition includes:

  • Physical copy of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II on PS4™ system
  • Ouroboros Emblem Pin
  • Musical Selections CD containing 23 full-length tracks
  • SteelBook® case featuring only artwork, with a separate outer package design  

 

In addition to that, players will be able to access the original Japanese dialog recordings. If you choose to go with the (excellent) English voices, there are an additional 5000+ lines of dialog that have been recorded per game. These kids talk a lot.

I couldn’t be more delighted that more people are going to have the chance to experience these awesome games. Both editions are scheduled to release in early 2019, and will retail for $49.99 each.
