Nearly two years after announcing Star Control: Origins, Stardock is getting close enough to releasing the game to start choosing dance partners. With a September 20th launch date now being only a few weeks away, they have also started releasing news of partnerships being developed with favored tech partners.
One of those partners is AMD, which will allow for custom optimizations AMD developed technologies like Ryzen processors and Radeon FreeSync 2 to provide faster and deeper graphics.
The relationship with AMD goes far beyond the technology, though. Stardock and AMD are going to join forces in the marketing of the game, including offering the game for free as part of AMD’s Raise the Game promotion: buyers of the AMD Radeon™ RX Vega, Radeon™ RX 580 or Radeon™ RX 570 graphics cards from qualifying retailers will get Star Control: Origins for free.
AMD is also going to host the first public showing of the full Star Control: Origins game in the AMD booth at PAX West in Seattle, WA in advance of the September 20 launch.

Prior to the September 20 release, the game is available at a special pre-order price of $34.99 through Stardock, GOG, and Steam.
