It's been around eight years since Sivak Games released Battle Kid: Fortress of Peril on the NES. Inspired by I Wanna Be The Guy, Battle Kid is a tough-as-nails platformer where one wrong move means instant death (or three wrong moves on easy difficulty). The game is a blast to play for fans of the old-school NES platformers and Sivak made a sequel in 2012: Battle Kid 2: Mountain of Torment.
Today though I was quite surprised when I opened up YouTube and saw a trailer from Sivak for Battle Kid: Fortress of Peril...on the Famicom? Yep, in September Sivak Games will be releasing Battle Kid: Fortress of Peril on a Famicom cartridge. This version of the game will be the same as the NES version with a few small changes, most notably some new areas to explore (possibly via passwords similar to the other two games and their special bonus areas) and the cut scene graphics will more resemble Battle Kid 2. While I already have the game on an NES cart, the Battle Kid fan in me will likely pick this up as well.
