An old favorite here at Gaming Nexus, Elite Dangerous is turning the page on its next update with Beyond – Chapter Two. This is all located in the third season's content. As with any sci-fi space 'em up, it comes with the requisite need to show off new ships. If Elite Dangerous could learn anything from Star Citizen, it's that new ships bring all the boys to the yard.
Looking at ships, Beyond – Chapter Two introduces the Alliance Challenger, a variation on the Alliance Chieftain. Like its big brother, the Challenger was designed from the ground up as a frontline combat vessel to take on the alien Thargoid threat. And even though I said "big brother," this new Challenger sponges up more damage with more armor than the Chieftain model.
Also, the Krait MkII (named after a venomous, of course) is a combat-multipurpose ship, intended to be a more combat-focused alternative to the Python. Its inconspicuous design also keeps the local authorities off your back, providing more smuggling opportunities for those that like to keep the "dangerous" in their "elite." Have to admit that the timing of releasing a smuggler ship is fortuitous—or not?—with Solo: A Star Wars Story playing in theaters.
Chapter Three and Chapter Four are still slated to come out later this year, bringing Squadrons and improvements to mining and exploration.
Elite Dangerous: Beyond – Chapter Two is out as of now as a free update for all Elite Dangerous and Elite Dangerous: Horizons players on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
