Is it just me or do things get uncomfortably "real" when playing Mario Party with friends? Maybe it's just because I've never really gotten into the series, but I'm not sure how the games manage to work a knife-edge between old friends and loving couples. The new Super Mario Party, coming to Switch on October 5th, almost seems to encourage that. It allows players to arrange multiple Switch consoles on a table to create a bigger playing field, but it also allows for a certain amount of deception and...subterfuge. Maybe it's just me, but I swear I've seen a few tense evenings result from a Mario party. I guess we'll find out this October.
