The Zelda-like is alive and well. Moonlighter is the debut title from developer Digital Sun and published by 11 bit studios. It tells the story of Will, a boy raised by shopkeeper parents, but dreams of becoming one of the adventurers that shop in his parents' store. Will is just a dreamer, but "where there's a will, there's a way," right?
Will's parents pass away, and now he's the shopkeeper—by day. But by night? The time has come for Will to start moonlighting (get it?) as the dungeon-delving adventurer he always wanted to be. So, during the day, there's a business management simulation running, where Will sets prices on goods, tracks his stock levels, and even has to deal with the occasional shoplifter. But when he flips the store sign over from open to closed, Will grabs a blade and a backpack and heads out into the rogue-lite wilderness. Part of his whole quest structure is to track down goods and gear that his customers request of him. And Will is up to the task.
Moonlighter launches May 29 on Windows, PS4, and Xbox One.
