Announced yesterday, publisher Activision and developer Toys for Bob (of the Skylanders series and also the 2005 adaptation of Dreamworks' Madagascar) are remastering the three original Spyro games in a collection titled Spyro: Reignited Trilogy.
With a planned release date of September 21st, this surprise has come just after a hiccup on Amazon showed a webpage for the title.
The most I remember of Spyro when I was growing up is playing a couple of titles at my cousin's house. If you'll allow a cliche, things really were simpler then. I just fired up the PS2, hoped it worked, and just wandered around because I really did not know what I was doing.
It is important to remember though, that the last time we did see Spyro in a game of his own, was Skylanders: Spyro's Adventures, a game that developer Toys for Bob made. My younger brother got a kick out of those games (he has, like, all of them) and looking back on the experience, it's quite clear how big of a cue the toys to life games took from the old school 3D action titles of yesteryear.
I played the Crash Bandicoot trilogy for PS4 last year, and while I did have a good time with it, it could also be ridiculously difficult sometimes. I don't anticipate Spyro being like this, as although they were around at the same time, they thankfully have different creative voices attached to them.
