Mortal Kombat 2 may have been released around 25 years ago, but fans are still updating the game to this day by hacking and releasing new versions of the arcade classic like Mortal Kombat 2: Tournament Edition, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 2 and Mortal Kombat 2: Challenger Hack. These updates by fans completely change the way the original arcade game plays. Whether it's making the hidden characters like Jade and Smoke playable, fixing the AI, balancing the game, or in the case of the challenger hack, putting the fights with Smoke, Jade and Kintaro right at the beginning of the arcade ladder.
This hack of the game is called Mortal Kombat 2+ or Mortal Kombat 2 Plus+ and it is adding a significant amount of content to the game including a combo system, a new hidden character, a new arena, fatalities for the bosses and a 2v2 Tag Team mode, along with other additions. It's still very much a work in progress, but Paul Eicher on his Youtube channel is showing off a demo of the mode in action. Be sure to check out the rest of his videos to see his ongoing progress on MK2+. For more information on Mortal Kombat 2+ be sure to check out the teams official website.
