The Nintendo Selects Program for 3DS is a pretty good deal for gamers looking to catch up on the big hit games that they might have missed. While niche titles will probably never appear on this list (sorry, JRPG fans!), many of the classic titles released over the years will eventually make their way to this discounted “greatest hits” program.
Starting Feb 3rd, Super Mario 3D Land, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Ultimate NES Remix will release with new packaging at the new discounted price of $19.99 each. These titles are joining other first-party classics like Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team and Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon. While the Switch is the new hotness and is rightfully receiving a lot of attention, it is obvious that Nintendo has not forgotten the millions of 3DS and 2DS systems floating around out there. There a ton of kids out there still locked onto this system. I gave my kid a Switch for Christmas, and after happily playing with it for a few days, by New Years Eve, he was right back to playing Pokemon on his cracked-screen 3DS. I like the 3D feature of the 3DS, unlike a lot of folks, and I’m anxiously awaiting the new Dragons Quest title. I’m perfectly happy to have two Nintendo platforms to choose from, so I’m excited that Nintendo is continuing to support both.
