Be honest, who hasn't missed GLaDOS? Sure, she's heartless, cold, and almost machine-like in her desire to bring mayhem and thwart your every move, but still.... you still get kinda attached to her, right?
Well, she's back. Launching in just a couple of days on December 20th, Bridge Constructor Portal blends the laws of physical construction and Aperture technology straight from the Aperture Laboratories into a refreshing game experience that will entertain fans of both franchises. And... GLaDOS will be right there to offer her unique brand of snarky and utterly unhelpful commentary.
Bridge Constructor Portal remains true to the lore of the Portal universe. Dialog, sound effects, and even test chamber names were developed with guidance from the original Portal team. That's all to the good as the previous Portal games were rock solid, extraordinarily entertaining, and addictive as can be when it comes to playing them.
As a new employee in the Aperture Science test lab, it's your job to build bridges, ramps, slides, and other constructions in 60 test chambers and get the Bendies safely across the finish line in their vehicles. Portals and bridge construction - what could go wrong?!??
With the promise of many Portal gadgets like portals, propulsion gel, repulsion gel, aerial faith plates, cubes, and more to bypass the sentry turrets, acid pools and laser barriers, solve switch puzzles, there should be plenty of inventive ways to make it through the test chambers unscathed.
I hope.
With Ellen McLain, the original voice of GLaDOS, to guide us through the tutorial, it should be both informative and entertaining to learn all the tips and tricks that make a true Aperture Science employee. Sadly, though, it sounds as if that will be but a cameo role for our friend GLaDOS.
As noted above, Bridge Constructor Portal will be available for PC, Mac, and Linux on Steam starting December 20th.
