It is commonly accepted that most of the major blockbuster games release each year before Thanksgiving, in order to get the sales push that Black Friday brings. Out of curiosity, I took a look at what games are coming to the PlayStation Store this Tuesday to see if there was anything worthwhile, and I was surprised by what I found. Tucked among the smaller releases there are some nice ports, packages, and collections coming out this week, and one surprise superhero PS VR release.
Here are a few games releasing Tuesday:
Battlestar Galactica Deadlock – Ten years ago, this would have been one of the major releases of the year. Now, it is being pushed out with little fanfare. However, there are still plenty of Battlestar Galactica fans out there who will probably perk up and take notice of this fleet battle / strategy title. Currently B.G.D. has a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam, with recent review showing “Highly Positive”.
Dead Rising 4: Franks Big Package – Capcom continues to reward PlayStation fans for their patience by delivering former Xbox exclusives at a reasonable price with a ridiculous amount of DLC included. Sure, you have to wait a year to play the thing, but for less than the original release cost of the base game, fans on PlayStation get a mountain of content.
Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition – No word on the price of this one yet, so it remains to be seen if it would just be cheaper to buy the base game and the DLC separately. But if you haven’t yet taken Aloy out on a mecha-dino hunting expedition, this might be worth a look.
Jak II, Jak 3, and Jak X: Combat Racing – The last three games in the Jak series finally get ported over to PlayStation 4. If I’m not mistaken, these will be available individually, as well as bundled together. There is a LOT of game here, so expect to spend some time on these titles.
Justice League VR: The Complete Experience – What’s this now? A movie tie in that lets players “step into the shoes and master the powers of the iconic DC Super Heroes: Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg”? The movie kind of stunk, but sign me up anyhow!
Steep Winter Games Edition – includes the original release and the Steep – Road to the Olympics DLC. I tried Steep and didn’t really dig it all that much, but there were always a ton of people playing. If you were thinking of giving it a shot, this might be the time to jump in.
The Walking Dead: A Telltale Collection – Has anyone not tried Telltale’s premiere title at this point? If so, this collection contains the first three seasons, the Michonne mini-series, and the 400 Days standalone episode. Telltale did some work to spruce up the original season, so this might be worth checking out if you haven’t played it, or want to revisit the adventures of Lee and Clem. There are a lot of easy platinum trophies tucked away in here!
