With the latest trailer hinting at the newest race, the most recent Kickstarter update has blown the doors off the news. Say hello to the undead, the final playable faction in Divinity: Original Sin 2. The undead fundamentally change some of the gameplay mechanics. First off, as undead, despite being an undead version of another faction (Human, Dwarf, Elf, or Lizard) you take on traits unique to the undead, not your previous form. However donning a hood will cause the rest of the NPCs in the world to treat you as that form, still amongst the living. Donning the Mask of the Shapeshift can take the deception step further, taking the abilities of any of the other races. Don a dwarf mask "for better prices from a Dwarven merchant, or shift to an Elf to dine on a corpse and learn their memories with the Elven racial ability Corpse Eater." Multiple masks can be made, they just need a fresh corpse of that race to make.
