Get to your battle stations, folks. Dreadnought has gone open beta on PlayStation 4. There are packages that'll get you in-game currency, bigger starter ships, and "Elite Status." But here's a link to the baseline free-to-play model, since you know how the PlayStation Store likes to hide away the free versions of things. Even this freebie ship is tucked away for PS4 owners, called The Hactar Hero Ship.
Dreadnought is a slower-moving tactical game, with you piloting a massive capital ship in 5v5 team-based matches. Picture a sci-fi World of Warships played out across space and low earth orbit. These ships have length, width, girth, and momentum. You're gonna feel it when you have to get these things moving, and when you need to get them slowed down and turned around. Moving is important, but so is slipping behind cover, lying in wait, and picking your moment to move, once you've seen your opponent commit to their line. But there are smaller, faster classes of ship too, though, so watch your six. Or your 6.5? The fights take place on a horizontal plane, with some up and down verticality, but you're only spinning your ship in 360-degree circles, not in 360-degree spheres, if that makes sense.
I'd rather you check out some actual gameplay footage and/or streaming of Dreadnought, rather than watching a cinematic trailer above; but oh well, it's what they released for launch day.
Again, Dreadnought is now in open beta on PS4. Chuck's E3 2014 impressions of the game are still relevant, if you need a quick primer.
