Ah, it's been quite a year, hasn't it? Overwatch has thrown no end of events and characters at us, and (for better or for worse) no end of lore. Now it approaches its first birthday, and surprise surprise, dataminers have announced the existence of an anniversary event.
Blizzard is, predictably, pretty tight-lipped about the details (which I find ironic, all things considered) but if we're to take the dataminers at face value, we can expect loads of cosmetic items. (Again, surprise surprise.) If you like Reaper, Tracer, Sombra, or Orisa, you have something to which you can look forward; based on the numbers, they're the most likely candidates for a new skin, though Symmetra is rumored to be getting a new legendary as well. Data also hints at a possible new game mode.
We're pretty certain at this point that something is going to happen - partially because of the dataminers, but also because someone accidentally pulled an Uprising again and listed the event's loot boxes on the Xbox store a bit too early. Either way, Blizzard has neither confirmed nor denied an upcoming event - they've all but outright confirmed it - and we all know what that means.
Keep an eye out for more details about timing and loot over the next week or so; Overwatch officially released on May 24, 2016, so whatever it is, it's coming up. To be fair, everybody deserves a birthday party.
