Sometimes DLC can be more than just a way to eke out a few more bucks from the consumer in exchange for a few more sessions and new goodies in a favored game. It can held the gaming community around a game stay strong and vibrant, a critical element of online and multiplayer components. Watch Dogs 2 seems to be attempting the latter and have revealed their Content Roadmap for 2017. The plans include both free and paid DLC and detail the PS4 timed exclusives and when the corresponding releases will be on Xbox One and PC.
The first bit of content is called Showd0wn and introduces new PvP modes, multiplayer races, and nonlethal weapons. From the live producer Kris Young:
"There are two main drivers behind making Showd0wn free for all of our players. The first is that we want everyone to be able to participate and play it. We really wanted to have as many people as possible playing the mode for a better challenge, better matchmaking time and quality, and a healthier, more active community.
The other is community feedback we’ve received since we announced the original plans. Our community asked for more multiplayer content, and that’s also a reason why we’ve decided to make Showd0wn accessible for free for all players, while replacing it with more single-player content in No Compromise."
The free Showd0wn content releases next month for everybody. The paid No Compromise DLC does as well for PS4. That DLC will follow on Xbox One and PC the following month.
