The holidays are here and this week's Nintendo Download is throwing a party of sorts. Over on the Wii U Virtual Console you can check out Mario Party 2. Originally released on the Nintendo 64 originally released just over seventeen years ago (man I feel old), this sequel to the original Mario Party has Mario and his friends taking part in five different adventure boards: Pirate Land, Western Land, Space Land, Mystery Land, and Horror Land. What's more is that the group will dress up in different costumes depending on which Land they're in. If you can't get enough Mario Party, this should make for some interesting holiday parties.
Meanwhile in the Wii U eShop we have Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. Shantae must stop a crime wave taking place in Sequin Land by using her Hair-Whip attack to defeat various monsters, or use her Belly Dance to transform into more powerful forms, before taking on her arch nemesis Risky Boots. As strange as that may sound, I've played quite a bit of Shantae: Risky's Revenge and really enjoyed it, so I may end up picking this one up sometime down the road.
Read on for the official press release for more info including various sales going on as well as how to meet a Mii character of Shigeru Miyamoto when you stop by a Nintendo Zone location before January 15th.

In addition to video games available at retail stores, Nintendo also offers a variety of content that people can download directly to their systems. Nintendo adds new games weekly to Nintendo eShop on the Wii U console, the Nintendo 3DS family of systems and the Wii™ Shop Channel for the Wii console.
Nintendo eShop is a cash-based service that features a wide variety of content, including new and classic games, applications and demos. Users can add money to their account balances by using a credit card or purchasing a Nintendo eShop Card at a retail store and entering the code from the card. All funds from one card must be loaded in Nintendo eShop on either Wii U or the Nintendo 3DS family of systems, but can be used in either Nintendo eShop if the systems are linked to a single Nintendo Network account.
The Wii Shop Channel offers games and applications and uses Wii Points™, which can be purchased via the Wii Shop Channel. The Nintendo DSi™ Shop offers games and applications and uses Nintendo DSi Points™. Click here for details about the recent Nintendo DSi Shop service change.
Remember that Wii U, Wii, New Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS XL, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL, Nintendo 2DS and Nintendo DSi feature parental controls that let adults manage some of the content their children can access.
