Maize [official site] has got a great premise and a great art style. You've got some kind of Teddy Ruxpin bear with a Russian accent walking around calling everything "Stupid," and you've got some kind of sentient corn in an abandoned government facility. And everything they say is supposedly absurd. ("We ordered pizza.") There are puzzles to solve, and the general mystery of this whole abandoned government facility thing is there for the figuring out.
I don't know. The sense of humor is thin. The jokes get old before I finished the trailer. I just think the comedy writing in Maize is weak, if this two-minute trailer is any indication. Am I being curmudgeonly? I'm probably being curmudgeonly. The environments are jam-packed with details, regardless. I hope the talking Russian bear can pick up the walking speed, though. Unless he's purposely plodding along in order to give you time to appreciate the detailed environments.
Maize is out now on PC.
