It looks like the E for Everyone Expo (i.e. the E3 you don't have to sneak into) has
gotten Nintendo and Sony to commit to the show. The article also points out something that I didn't know which is that the show is going to be confined to the South Hall instead of the entire convention center. We're still working out coverage plans here (it's going to depend on if we get any more E3 invites) but this is good news for those who were planning on attending the show.
