If you're a huge Legend of Zelda fan who'll play just about anything starring the voiceless green-clad Hylian (guilty), get ready to plop down some money as The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks hits the Wii U eShop today. Link and Zelda must travel together to keep the forces of evil at bay when the Spirit Tracks, which protected the kingdom from evil, begin to disappear. Honestly I tend to prefer Phantom Hourglass over Spirit Tracks mainly because I feel that sailing in a boat gives the player more freedom than riding a train on a set of tracks, but it's still a fairly solid entry in the series and I enjoyed it when it first launched on the Nintendo DS.
Next up on the Wii U is SteamWorld Heist, a "space adventure with turn-based tactical shootouts" where you have to aim in real time and pull off some awesome bullet-bouncing trick shots. There is some good news for players who already have the 3DS version, or the Wii U or 3DS versions of SteamWorld Dig. If you have any of those three games, you can get a 10% discount off of SteamWorld Heist for the Wii U. Just make sure that your Nintendo Network ID is linked to your Wii U and 3DS systems as well as your eShop account prior to purchase. This offer begins today at 9 a.m. PT and will run until 8:59 a.m. PT on November 3rd.
Speaking of cross-platform purchasing, today sees the release of Pirate Pop Plus for the Wii U and New Nintendo 3DS. In this game that looks like it was made for the classic Game Boy, you play as Pete Jr. on a quest to defeat an evil villain known as the Bubble Pirate who has trapped innocent townsfolk in bubbles. The game plays a lot like the classic arcade titles Pang and Buster Bros. with a little bit of chaos thrown in as the gravity will change every now and then, so you might start out on the floor and end up on the walls or ceiling in a few minutes. There's more good news here as if you happen to own both a Wii U and New Nintendo 3DS and have your Nintendo Network ID and eShop accounts linked, purchasing one version will get you the other at no cost.
Finally we have the Super NES classic Breath of Fire on the New Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. Breath of Fire is one of the more well known RPG series from that era and now you can take the first game on the road with you...well, provided you have a New Nintendo 3DS, and join Ryu as he begins on his adventure to rediscover the lost power of the Light Dragons and save his sister from the Dark Dragons.
