If you've been waiting for motion controllers for the Oculus Rift, then you have a few more months to go. Today at Oculus Connect, Oculus announced that the Touch controllers will be shippong on December 6th.
You can pre-order them in four days and they will run you $199. It will include two touch controllers and another USB sensor.
Want room scale? You can do it with two sensors, but Oculus recommends three so you can pick up another sensor for $79.
So how does this compare with the HTC Vive? The Vive has two lighthouses and everything is in the box to do room scale VR at a price of $799. You can grab everything for the Rift for $798, but add that extra sensor for more reliable room scale experience and you're talking $877.
I've used the Touch controllers many times and really like it. I think it's a great solution and I think it does do some things better than the Vive controllers.
I'm happy though that the Rift will finally have a good controller solution. Hopefully, this means a lot more VR games that'll come out that run on both the Vive and the Rift with motion controls standard.
