If there is one thing that I have wanted for quite some time in the WWE 2K games is for some of the match types to get the much needed overhaul they deserve. I mean, with the exception of the pod breaking OMG moment, the Elimination Chamber match is literally the exact same match it's been since it debuted in Here Comes The Pain. This year WWE 2K17 is giving the ladder match a big overhaul and they are also giving the tables matches a big overhaul as well.
In previous years, it could be incredible frustrating trying to put someone through a table because you could have to be positioned in just the right spot and then perform a move that would just so happen to end with you facing a table. This year, 2K is introducing a bunch of table grapple moves, which makes it much easier to put your opponent through a table. The tables grapples can be performed in one of five positions. Leaning against the table, the corner, the top rope, leaning against the apron and leaning against the ropes. Table grapples are done by filling up a new table break meter. Performing an offensive action with the table will fill up the meter. Once the meter is full, you can perform a table grapple. You can also perform a table break grapple immediately with the use of a finisher.
I have to say that this is probably the most excited I have been for a WWE game in a long time. All of the changes to the match types and creation modes look fantastic and we still don't know about the changes to My Career or WWE Universe yet.
WWE 2K17 releases on October 11th for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. No word on a PC version yet but if it's anything like the previous two years, it will probably release next spring around Wrestle Mania XXXIII.
