Just recently I wrote up a preview article for Dropzone, Gameforge's new RTS/MOBA hybrid that's currently in closed beta. Towards the end of said article I made no attempt to hide the fact that I am absolutely terrible at the game, though I did give it a lot of praise. That being said, I was somewhat surprised to get an email from Gameforge this morning that went out to players informing them of a "Progression Reset". This not only completely wipes everything you've done so far (which for me wasn't much...at all), but also changes a couple of things I wrote about in my preview.
I mentioned that you had nine pilots to chose from. That's now been reduced to only three: Vise, Recon, and Widget. Each of these three pilots will have their own set of default gear. You can unlock new pilots and gear by spending Jovians in the shop, and Jovians can be gained just by playing matches. You can open Gear Crates from the shop to receive one piece of gear at random, and you can currently unlock six pilots: Knockout, Warhead, Fury, Vanguard, Turbine, and Cortex. If I had to guess why Gameforge did this, it's possibly to put the beta in line with what the final product will be. I'd also imagine that really good players will unlock the other pilots in no time, putting things right back to where they were before the reset, but it's a decent way to get everyone on the same level again while the beta is still in progress and to test some things out.
