Harmonix released a whole bunch of new details on the upcoming Rock Band Rivals late this week including pricing, preorder deals and features. First up, the new features include two new modes, new venues and Rock Shop items. The first new mode is Rockudrama, which is a campaign mode that is a playable music documentary, that features a mix of live-action video, in game footage and Rock Band gameplay. It basically follows your band and tells their story as they progress on a hopeful ride to fame.
The second new mode is Rivals mode, which will allow you to form crews of up to ten people to take on other crews around the world. From the release, it sounds like regardless of your skill level, you will be able to assist your crew (kind of like Scramble golf for those that are familiar). Full details will be announced at PAX West in September.
You can purchase it a myriad of ways, including as a digital download (vis Xbox Live or PSN for $29.99), full game digital download ($59.99) or as bundle that includes peripherals from new manufacture PDP. The two bundles will be as either the Rock Band Rivals Band Kit ($199.99) or the Rock Band Rivals Wireless Jaguar Bundle ($89.99), and will net your two additional songs at launch if you preorder through Amazon. No matter the method to preorder, you will get access to a 10-song bonus download that includes the following:
Those that preorder via Amazon and purchase any new instruments will get the following two songs as a bones:
Those that prefer to purchase the $29.99 digital download will also get Cheeseburger Tee as well as an exclusive Golden Sword Guitar. Check out the full info at the Harmonix Rock Band Blog for any additional details.
