Travis checked out The Assembly last year at E3 and now the wait will soon be over. July 19th will be the release date for this adventure game on the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. A PlayStation VR version will be available as well sometime after its released.
The game looks pretty polished as you can see. They are going to offer two options to move around the bunker. First, you can use an analog stick movement scheme for those that can stomach it. The other option is a teleportation mechanic that's featured in many games today and that should help those that don't have as strong of a stomach with traditional stick movement.
As for as the story itself, there's going to be multiple endings that can be accessed via your actions rather than through dialogue. Playing as two different people from two different perspectives, the game will have you discovering the secrets of the Assembly.
It sounds intriguing an mDreams looks like they are really putting some great effort into the VR aspect of it.
The game will retail for $29.99.

Thursday 30th June, 2016 - nDreams, the UK's largest developer/publisher solely focused on creating virtual reality (VR) games and experiences, are thrilled to announce that The Assembly – the studio’s first major title for high-end VR headsets – will be released on PC for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive next month, on Tuesday 19th July, priced at $29.99 / €24.99 / £19.99.
The Assembly is an immersive, interactive story in first-person VR for mature audiences. The game centres around the eponymous Assembly, an enigmatic collective that has hidden itself from the world so as to conduct its experiments outside the constraints of government scrutiny and society’s morals. But what secrets is it hiding? What will it sacrifice in the name of progress? That’s for players to discover by taking on the role of two different protagonists, who both have the chance to shake the foundations of this mysterious organisation.
Designed as a perfect introduction to virtual reality, The Assembly includes a player-tested control scheme custom built for VR to ensure comfort, so that both newcomers to the medium and more experienced VR gamers can explore The Assembly’s world as comfortably as a flatscreen first-person game. Players of The Assembly will also be able to switch to a non-VR mode, which features a reworked UI designed to be played on a monitor.
A non-VR version of The Assembly will also be released alongside the VR version and will be available to purchase for PC through Steam, priced at $19.99 / €19.99 / £14.99. This edition of the game willinclude an option that allows players to upgrade to VR at any time in order to experience The Assembly as originally intended.
