This week's Nintendo Download is headlined by the launch of Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens for the Wii U and 3DS. Not only is the game based on Episode VII, but it also features exclusive playable content that bridges the story between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. If you've played the other Lego Star Wars games, you'll probably get a kick out of this one.
The other huge release this week is Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars on the Wii U Virtual Console. The game that got me into RPGs, Super Mario RPG starts out normal enough with Mario rescuing Princess Toadstool (yes, this was while she was still called Princess Toadstool) from Bowser, until a giant sword plunges into the castle and sends everyone flying. Now Mario must find the princess and get back to Bowser's Castle to get to the bottom of these events. If you've never played it before, I highly recommend checking it out. This game was amazing back when it was first released twenty years ago and still remains my second favorite RPG to this day (the first being Chrono Trigger).
Fans of the Monster Hunter series can now download a "special demo" for Monster Hunter Generations for the 3DS. The demo offers three main quests that you can tackle solo or co-op, and co-op can be either local or online, along with a selection of tutorials for newcomers. That's a nice feature for people like me who have very little experience with the series...especially since I'm going to be reviewing the full game so I want to be as prepared as possible going into this.
Other releases this week are BOXBOXBOY! where Quibby returns with an all new set of puzzles to solve as well as a new ability to duplicate his blocky body into two sets of boxes, The Battle Cats POP!, a tower defense adventure game where you can collect hundreds of cats to power up your army and take down bizzare enemies, and Zero Escape: Zero Time Dliemma, the trailer for which can be seen below.
