“Rise from your grave!” That quote, of course, is from Sega’s classic Altered Beast. However, it is completely accurate in describing the free to play mech game Hawken and some recent information that appears to reveal that the game is headed to consoles. Per a recent listing on the Taiwanese Game Ratings Board, Hawken is headed to the Xbox one courtesy of 505 Games.
Hawken came into the limelight when it entered into open beta back in late 2012 with it’s stunning visuals. The game was very well received by reviewers and the rights for the game were even sold off for a film adaptation. It is extremely interesting to see yet another free to play experience make it’s way to the home consoles. This has perhaps been one of the biggest advancements of this generation in my personal opinion. It’s great to see more and more options become available for gamers that don’t require additional purchases beyond the acquisition of the console itself.
Now, that being said, we don’t know for sure if Hawken will launch as free to play when it hits consoles. There is the possibility that the game could be making a conversion to a full, retail experience. We will just have to wait and see until an official announcement is made by either the developer or the publisher.
