The idea behind the Homefront is sublime. It's one that's been done before, sure; but when done right, like in the film Red Dawn (the 1984 one, not the god-awful retread), it is masterful. Unfortunately, for me, the original Homefront played a lot more like that Red Dawn retread than the original. Maybe I just had just hyped myself up too much. It wasn't a terrible game, but didn't blow me away as I thought backstory like that deserves to.
Well it's with high hopes that I'm starting to look at the second take in the series, Homefront: The Revolution, as well. Some of us just never learn I guess. The FPS genre is a crowded one but there is meat to this tale to work with where most FPS backstories are more like haggling over bones and scraps. Deep Silver have already announced they expect a 30 hour single player campaign, so they seem to be committed to giving it their best shot at doing it justice. I'm rooting for you.
