All Walls Must Fall is doing the retro-futurism thing, where the year is 2089 and the Cold War never ended. If you do the math, 2089 is exactly 100 years after the Berlin Wall fell, so you can see the crux of events that will inform All Walls.
This "tech-noir spy thriller" is set in Berlin, the capital of Germany. It's a tactical game, with the camera taking on that 3D isometric view. The art style is made to look like a propoganda poster, with 2D paper cutouts of the people moving around on 3D stages. There's also an element of musical rhythm in there, though there's no gameplay video yet to show off how that'll work. Procedurally generated levels make for differing playthroughs, time-manipulation is the name of the game, and "pausable real-time tactics with actions on the beat of the music." I mean, I'm intrigued. If the mix of combat, hacking, and social stealth doesn't pique your interest, maybe the parable reflecting on free will, moral ambiguity and the meaning of freedom does. Also, prepare yourself if you find it difficult living in a world with diverse cultural, sexual, and gender identieis. All Walls will not be a safe place if any of that scares you.
All Walls Must Fall is being built by three former AAA vets: folks who worked on Spec Ops: The Line (GN Score 8.9). That alone further solidifies the politically charged material All Walls will bust into. This is the first commercial title coming out of the reasonably new Inbetweengames, and these three guys mean business. You can detect a fearless edge in how they compose themselves, even when describing their former employment.
All Walls Must Fall is coming to PC and Mac. It's too soon to talk release dates, but we'll keep an eye on this one.
