April 12 is the official date of the latest update for Destiny, which will be 2.2.0 as the official version. We knew some of the details upon the first release, but it was just general bullet points such as new challenges, higher light level, and not much detail beyond that.
Today, Bungie has released more information about what actually is going into the update in a couple of weeks in a blog post. You can check it out at the highlighted link, but we'll hit the highlights:
The current maximum is 320, mainly achieved by getting raid gear, participating in Trials of Osiris, and random drops. This will raise the bar for those who are maxed out.
It's not a secret when I say that the Prison of Elders was a disappointment when it first launched. While the challenge was fun, the rewards weren't necessarily mind-blowing at the time. Bungie are upping the ante in the arena, stating the following:
For the first time, face the Taken and eight updated bosses in a Level 41 version of Prison of Elders. Visit Variks to partake in a brand new mode, Challenge of the Elders, featuring scoring, weekly boss battles, gameplay twists, and rewards.
There isn't much else to go by on this one, but new quests are good.
As if there weren't enough Taken running around to kill, now there's a strike completed dedicated to The Taken King's army.
We'll have more information as it becomes available, but it would appear this is the bulk of the update.
