The Wii U is NOT ceasing production this year

Reports were that Nintendo was going to stop producing new Wii U's this year, but Nintendo has come out to deny that. Thoughts were that Nintendo was going to focus on their next console, codenamed the NX.

Nintendo said that they are looking to continue to produce the hardware this year and beyond so those thinking the Wii U will stop rolling off the assembly lines can breath a sigh of relief.

There's been some good titles that have come out for the Wii U recently. Several of our staff members love Splatoon and there's Super Mario Maker that's popular as well.

While we wait on news of the Nintendo NX, we'll at least know Wii U units will continue to be produced for the foreseeable future.
