Blizzard’s next big release is launching a bit sooner than many of us were expecting. Fans have been waiting patiently for news of an official release for the squad-based shooter, Overwatch, and as of this week, they finally have it. The game has been in closed beta since October 2015 and will finally launch on May 24, 2016 on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
Overwatch is a 6-on-6, team based shooter where players select from a roster of heroes, each with their own unique roles and abilities. Although players can switch between characters and roles following each death, however in order to succeed, your team will need to maintain a good balance of offense, defense, support and tank characters. All of the game’s maps are going to be inspired by real-world locations such as Japan, London and the ancient ruins of Egypt.
Players will get a chance to check out the game early with two beta tests planned in the month leading up to release. Those who pre-order will get in the first test, which will run on May 3 and May 4. Everyone else will get a chance to see what the game has to offer in a public, open beta between May 5 and May 9.
