Sony and Naughty Dog made an announcement yesterday that will likely upset some gamers; Uncharted 4 is being delayed again. Calm down though, it isn’t a big delay. The game is being held back a few additional weeks until May 10, 2016.
The delay isn’t for the usual reasons, so you don’t have anything to worry about. The game is still set to go gold later this month as there is no technical reason for the change in release date. Instead, Naughty Dog is simply looking to make sure that the demand for the game is met. The additional two weeks is going to be used simply for manufacturing time. The hope is to eliminate any potential shortages that may exist for the game at retail.
This is definitely a different situation than gamers are used to hearing. Normally the first mention of a delay sparks backlash and anger. I can actually respect what Naughty Dog is trying to do here. If it weren’t for the targeted gold date of late March, it wouldn’t be a believable story. Personally, I am just happy that I have an extra two weeks to wrap up the remastered versions of Uncharted 2 and 3.
