Total revenues for the video game industry hit $23.5 billion last year (that's $23,500,000,000), a 5% increase over 2014. If you saw flags at half-staff this week, it was for Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia who passed away on February 13, who worked to protect video games under the First Ammendment. At the same time, The New Yorker asks how evil should a video game allow you to be?
What are you playing this weekend?

This weekend will likely see me go back and forth between Mega Man Legacy Collection on the 3DS in preparation for a review and Street Fighter V on PC in preparation to get my butt kicked online. Actually, let's face it: As much time as I've put into Mega Man over the years, this review shouldn't take all that long, with the bulk of my time being spent on challenges. I never did finish them all on the Steam version. There will also be the Amiibo-exclusive challenges for the 3DS version (which means I need to pick up the NFC reader for my 3DS). As for Street Fighter, I basically get to forget everything I've learned about Vega in Ultra Street Fighter IV and learn him all over again for V. Long story short, Vega is no longer a charge character. Joy.

After triumphantly returning from my vacation, I'm diving back into Attractio for our review. Then I'll turn my attention to Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 as the next review piece. Sandwiched in between will be some more Destiny and maybe, just maybe, I'll finally open up Bloodborne and take on that challenge.

After being bitterly disappointed by Firewatch—seriously, what a botched, half-baked mess that story was—I'm finally indulging in the Deus Ex: Revision mod that came out last year. I initially hated the changes it made to my beloved Deus Ex, but after tweaking some options, I'm coming to really enjoy the new interpretation of the classic level design and RPG mechanics. Best of all, the conspiracy-laden cyberpunk story remains completely unchanged.

This is a weekend of Street Fighter in the Duff household. With Street Fighter V hitting the PS4 and PC this week, it's time for me to put up or shut up with my fighting game game. Did I say that right? I really want to put effort into this entry in order to become more involved in the competitive scene and try to relive some of my mid-'90s arcade glory days of collecting quarters and tokens off the glass. When I am letting my fists rest, I think I might have to do another run of Firewatch because it is good for the soul.

Jumping back into Fallout 4 after a months' long hiatus is easier than I thought. I waded out of a lake, dressed in my diver's suit, talked to Piper real quick--who's still feeling lucky in love--pulled out my flaming shish kebab, went spelunking in the sewers, and found a bus with two teddy bears inside sitting on a medical tray under a spotlight, one of them brandishing a bone saw at the other. I don't know either. But I missed you, Boston Commonwealth. Let's go find Shaun. Also, my wife is playing through Firewatch now. The game's text-adventure intro revealed things about her character that I'm taking into marital account.

This weekend I'll be playing some Destiny, my addiction of late. I'll also be diving into the Dark Zone in The Division open beta. And I'll be starting up The Flame in the Flood for a review coming up at the end of the month.

I overcommitted on Fire Emblem last weekend, so this weekend I need to catch up on Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, and Digimon Cyber Sleuths. Hopefully I will be able to squeeze in some time with Street Fighter V (it's the fifth strike, y'all, it's Street Fighter V). My normal Final Fantasy XIV playtime is currently on hold, since patch 3.2 is coming next week. So, unless I want to grind out the last few dungeons to achieve Mentor status, I'll probably be avoiding that one, which might make more time for Project X Zone 2. No I don't think I have enough to play right now.
