March 1 is going to be a big day for Mortal Kombat X. Not only is the definitive version of the game, Mortal Kombat XL, launching on that day alongside the official release of Kombat Pack 2, but one of the greatest stages in the history of fighting games will also be making a return.
Fans got to see a glimpse of the classic stage in the latest trailer for the game, shown at the very end. This was the first time we had seen or heard of the stage’s comeback. Boon has since clarified on Twitter that the stage is being added to the game, free of charge. The stage is included in a mandatory compatibility patch for the game that will launch alongside the new content on March 1. It will be interesting to see if it is easy to pull of the Pit fatality as it was in the first Mortal Kombat. Will a simple uppercut do the trick or will you need to meet certain requirements and / or enter a special button combination in order to trigger the deadly fall of your opponent? We’ll find out in a few weeks.
