In preparation for The Battle of Jakku's limited release to pre-order players of Star Wars Battlefront tomorrow, EA has released a gameplay trailer, expanding upon the previous teaser trailer from a few weeks ago.
The Battle of Jakku takes place 29 years before the events of the upcoming movie, The Force Awakens. It is the battle that resulted in the crashed Star Destroyer seen in some of the trailers for the movie. This DLC will, in a way, function as a sort of prelude to the movie, and for people like me that are battling lethal levels of Episode VII hype, this may be just the cure you need to tide you over.
It provides two maps, as well as introduces a new game mode called Turning Point, described like this on Battlefront's website:
Rebels need to locate and capture one of three control points in Imperial control. The clock is ticking, but if the Rebel team succeeds with a capture additional time will be added and new control points will be available for capture. Moving through these increasingly challenging checkpoints, the ultimate goal is the Empire’s base where the final stand will take place.
No word on what the other map is, although due to how much talk there has been about the dogfights in this battle, it could possibly be another Fighter Squadron map.
For those of you that pre-ordered Star Wars Battlefront, the Battle of Jakku DLC will be available to download tomorrow. For everyone else, it will be ready on December 8th, a week from tomorrow.
