We've come full circle on Kickstarter, ladies and gentlemen. Pack it up and let's just ride off into the sunset, because it doesn't get any stranger than this.
Remember last year when a game called Hatoful Boyfriend came out? Our own Randy Kalista reviewed it, and it's one of the weirdest games in recent memory that I can recall. It follows the standard Japanese dating simulation, except instead of being with human beings....it's with pigeons. Now, one year later, a kickstarter has appeared to create plushies of the characters from the game.
It's doing well. So well, in fact, that it's about to hit $100k, which would be four times the original goal that had been set. I still don't know how to process this information, because there have been plenty of games that have failed on Kickstarter, yet I'm watching this and shaking my head because there were not only enough people who played and apparently enjoyed Hatoful Boyfriend that they actually want their own plushie of it.
The kickstarter has 17 days remaining on it, so if you feel so inclined as to offer up some cash for your own plushie, you still have until the beginning of December to do so.
