The votes are in, and Final Fantasy VII is only the 2nd most popular PlayStation game of all time. (Metal Gear Solid took 1st.) No Man's Sky developer sits down with Stephen Colbert next week. And Mad Max has solved The Mystery of the Missing Half-Life 3.
What are you playing this weekend?

Now that the original System Shock is on GOG, I'll be diving into that this weekend. System Shock 2 is one of my favorite games of all time, so it will be fascinating to finally play the original game, especially after I was generally disappointed with BioShock's lack of depth and horror.

Someone help. Please. I have been completely sucked back into the world of Destiny and can't seem to pull myself away to play anything else. On second thought, don't help. Leave me be. I'm truly happy here, especially now that I have obtained the Arc Edge sword and will now bring the way of the Guardian samurai to the Cabal, Vex, Fallen, Hive, and Awoken enemies across the universe. Plus, I can throw fire hammers at them. I am officially a fire-hammer throwing samurai. Gaming life is glorious.

This weekend I'll be diving deeper into The Taken King. Unlike the other Destiny DLC, there is still a ton of content after you finish the final boss. Not only that, but some of the missions are incredibly hard and require more than one person to complete. I've also been impressed that every experience with the game, no matter how long, yields some sense of accomplishment. I'll also be spending some time grinding C-bills in MechWarrior Online, as I continue to earn enough money to buy another Timber Wolf so I can finish leveling up the entire set of mechs.

By the end of the weekend, I should be onto the second week of my 30 Days of Rocksmith diaries. These aren't reviews. They're free-writing sessions for a guy going through a midlife musicianship crisis. I'm also detective-ing my way through Shadowrun Returns. Thoughtful characters, dicey situations, and a well-polished narrative is going to get this one a Best Writing award nod from me. A couple years late, but y'know. And, this just in: The Talos Principle for PS4 is in my hot little hands for review. It's a puzzler with a ripping metanarrative and transhuman talking points.

What am I playing? FIFA 16. That's all I really have to say about that.
